May we introduce Fr. Noah Cockett, our new priest, soon to be joining us this autumn.
I was born in Westcliff-on-Sea, not too far away from the parishes I will soon be serving. I grew up in the church, worshipping and being formed at St. Margaret's, Leigh-on-Sea.
After college, I cut my teeth in London working as a Pastoral Assistant for the Church of England Ministerial Experience scheme in Southwark and Stepney. I worked with some wonderful people in Lewisham and in Finsbury Park who took some very rough clay and formed me into the person I am today.
I was disappointed at the end of my second year, as I was not
recommended for training at that time. So I returned to Southend to work as a Carer. I got back into old hobbies: the violin and archery.
During Covid, I was accepted for training for ordination, and in the latter years of Covid I studied at Ripon College Cuddesdon. I had a wonderful time, met incredible people and developed a devotion to St. Drogo, the patron Saint of Coffee and Coffee Drinkers. I also met the love of my life, Emmy.
At the Cuddesdon fete, we bumped into each other, and some months later managed to reconnect when I was on placement in London.
Throughout my training, she has been my rock, and we will be getting married on the 5th of September this year.
After that, I continued learning throughout my time at the Witham and Villages team. Again, I have been formed by some wonderful priests who have really helped me get to grips with the realities of ministry.
I look forward to the next Chapter of my life, returning to Southend and Prittlewell, places I know so well. I look forward to serving the people of those parishes and discerning where God is leading us.
